Dhurandhar (transl. Stalwart) is a 2025 Indian Hindi-language spy action thriller film written, co-produced and directed by Aditya Dhar. Produced by Jyoti Deshpande‘s Jio Studios and Aditya and Lokesh Dhar’s B62 Studios, the film stars Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi, alongside Manav Gohil, Danish Pandor, Saumya Tandon, Gaurav Gera and Naveen Kaushik in supporting roles. In the film, the first of a two-part film series, an Indian intelligence mission unfolds over ten years as an undercover agent enters Karachi’s criminal and political world to dismantle dangerous cross-border terror networks.
The film was officially announced untitled in July 2024. Principal photography took place from the same month to October 2025 across Thailand, Punjab, Mumbai, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh. The film has music composed by Shashwat Sachdev, cinematography handled by Vikash Nowlakha and editing by Shivkumar V. Panicker. Although it was classified as a work of fiction by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), the film draws inspiration from real-life events involving geopolitical tensions, 1999 Indian plane hijack, 2001 Indian Parliament attack, 2008 Mumbai attacks, covert operations conducted by India’s R&AW associated with Operation Lyari, and the crackdown on gangs and criminal syndicates.
Dhurandhar was released on 5 December 2025 in theatres. The film received mixed-to-positive reviews from critics, who praised the ensemble cast’s performance, particularly Singh and Khanna, as well as Aditya’s direction, cinematography, production values, action sequences, music and world-building. However, the pacing and its 214-minutes runtime, one of the longest among Indian films, was criticised. Commercially, the film is performing strongly at the box-office, emerging as the third highest grossing Hindi film of 2025 and the fifth highest-grossing Indian film of 2025. A direct sequel, Dhurandhar: Part 2 – Revenge, is scheduled to release on 19 March 2026.
